Protectacoat, GE Money and Andura Coatings
Protetacoat formally based at 1 Papyrus Road, Peterborough PE4 5BH has now ceased trading and entered into voluntary liquidation.
This potentially leaves thousands of home owners across the UK without a 20 year guarantee so much featured in their sales presentation.
However, if you bought part or all of your Protectacoat or Andra application on finance offered By GE Money, formally First National Bank, you have a legal claim to the guarantee under section 75 of consumer credit act 1974.

GE Money has a legal responsibility to repair defects to your Protectacoat or Andura coating in this situation. To protect the integrity of the guarantee it is essential, even the slightest crack should be repaired by GE Money.
The coating was sold to you on the principle that it protects the fabric of the property from damp penetration, so it’s vital you have these defects repaired.
Andura is a texture coating manufacturer based in Bicester, Oxfordshire. Andura provides coating for its declining dealerships across the UK. These included London Wall coating, Texcote and Mosaic coating who have featured on Matt Alrights rogue traders.

One of the television programs featured a Texcote salesman boasting of selling external coatings to a 78 year old lady at a scandalous price and laughing at his achievements.
It’s interesting to note these three companies operated from the same building in North London. They are effectively the same operation, managed and owned initially by Barry Beck and Stanley Silver with the same management team.
They had the same sales trainer, a gentleman called Lyn Gordon, who operated on the same principle off ripping off customers by fear and then changing their name when trading standards or the media caught with them.
The training was filmed by Matt Alrights team and featured the fear sales techniques.
To provide yet another example located in Romford, Essex, a Protetacoat customer bought an application for the front elevation of his house for £7000.00 on finance provided by GE money. He was 72 years old and will have to pay the finance for the next 10 years costing some £7200.00 in interest alone.
He is paying this from his pension and completes the loan at the age of 82. The house did not need any protection at all and the external coating was sold to him on fear tactics. The customer was informed that his house would fall down if he did not purchase the product.
The coating was applied in a day, materials cost £300.00, labour cost £600.00 giving Protectacoat a profit of £6100.00
GE money provides the finance for these dealerships, without GE money these dealerships could not function.

There are many cases where the application of an external coating has breached the damp proof course and is causing internal dampness, condensation and mould.
Toxic mould is a health hazard and you need to act to avoid developing health issues
Rising damp can cause structural damage internally to renders and decorations. So consulting the nationwide expert is prudent to establish if faults do exist. This could prevent the formation of Dry Rot in some situations.
We can assist in providing an expert and qualified report in legal format that can be used at county court to provide compensation to actually have the entire application removed and made good in some situations.
This particularly applies to applications of Andura plastic coatings that are essentially a plastic film surrounding your property that prevents the substrate or fabric breathing.
Lifecote Ltd will assist in legal action to recover costs for such an application.
